Scan of a Map

So I ran the megadungeon again last night, and Artemis drew this neat map. I've been hesitant to post scans of the main maps because (a) they're not all that interesting and (b) my players haven't seen most of them yet, but this handles both problems nicely.

  1. Uh, is that Mickey north of the "frog" room and south of the " :( " room?

  2. I believe so. The room in question was full of a big swarm of rats on a pile of garbage.

  3. I thought that one was pretty self-explanatory. The contents of the ":(" room are not so obvious!

  4. the :( room is hilarious just in concept to know all the possibilities of what could have made a player draw that.

  5. Like most of the rooms in that sequence, it's labeled based on the mosaic on the floor: a large, toothy face with a dour expression. Upon entering it, the players promptly broke out their chalk and drew a smiley face on the ceiling.

  6. That is an interesting sequence of rooms, is the "real" map like that or is this just player interpretation?

    I like it (either way).

  7. Why is it always "Chasm of Doom"? Why don't we ever see a "Chasm of Fun," or a "Chasm of Fluffy bunnies"? ;D

  8. Mike D.: It's pretty close. I helped them out a bit, and I've gotten much better lately with map descriptions. I threw that pattern on pretty early in the mapping process (most of the rest of that corner is built around it) because I thought it looked cool, but it played pretty well, too: the players really, really wanted to see what was at the end of the chain.

Christopher B.: Hey, don't look at me. I just described it as a "huge, dark chasm, with a tiny point of light directly across from you, and a few others winking further away in the darkness." They're the ones who brought up doom. I don't know how they could have gotten that idea . . .
